Art Consulting: Selected Project
World class art makes world class destinations. ODG has depth in working with artists and institutions to fit the right artworks within the right context. We know how to turn percent for art requirements into an essential statement.
Jim Isermann & Kevin Appel
Set to break ground in late 2016, Province is a destination for food, fashion and art in the heart of San Gabriel Valley. A mixed use development featuring 50,000 sq ft of retail and 60 luxury condo units, the Province will be home to fine dining as well as luxury apparel, design and homegoods shopping.
ODG worked hand in hand with Jim Isermann in developing a wall and elevator tower set from a parallelogram tile module while collaborating with Kevin Appel on a 1,600 sq ft multilayered modular glass wall installation that dynamically reacts to natural sun light pattern.
Translated Chris Burden’s original idea based
on erecting a structure inside a building code loophole into a full scale sculpture including materiality, form and fabrication.
Chris Burden had major retrospectives at the Newport Harbor Art Museum, Newport Beach, California (1988), the MAK-Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna (1996), and The New Museum, NY, NY (2013). In 1999, Burden exhibited at the 48th Venice Biennale and the Tate Gallery in London.
Worked with Robert Irwin, director Michael Govan, head curator Lynne Cooke, and several of the artists represented in the collection, to renovate 292,000sf former Nabisco Factory as permanent home of large-scale artworks and long-run installations. Winner of AIA Mid Hudson top honors and AIA New York.
Translated into Architecture Robert Irwin’s master plan for the museum and its outdoor spaces, as well as other numerous aspects of the project, most notably the extensive landscape environment, windows and doors, as well as the museum’s entry pavilion.
Hollywood INT. Airport
Art & Exhibition Masterplan
Master planned suitable sites, budgets, and fees for commissioning new, integrated public artworks at an airport building under construction. Selected artists and coordinated works with site elements and consultants.
Collaborated with artist Richard Serra to determine the architectural conditions of the renovated train shed including placement, entrance, lighting, and enclosure.
Retrospectives of Serra’s work have been organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (1998) and Museum of Modern Art, New York (1986 and 2007). He has also created numerous site-specific sculptures in public and private venues in both North America and Europe.
Coordinated all aspects of the design, installationand fabrication of artist Michael Heizer’s previously unrealized artwork.
Michael Heizer has exhibited in the International Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, major exhibitions of his work have been staged at institutions such as the Museum Folkwang, Essen (1979), and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (1984). Hiezer’s gigantic rock “Levitated Mass” was permanently installed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (2012).
McFetridge is an internationally exhibited artist known for his distincly human artwork. His artwork for Pacific City is perfectly situated to the site -- featuring a surfergirl riding a giant wave made of gentle hands.
Instinctively ignoring creative boundaries McFetridge is a truly multidisciplinary artist working across a broad scope from poetry to animation, graphics to 3D work, textile and wallpaper to paintings. He has created unique imagery in both his personal and commercial work and commissions, which is detailed and abstract at the same time.
Center for the Arts
Collaborated with artists to create usable communal spaces at Headlands Art Center utilizing National Endowment for the Arts funding.
